Remember Who You Are
May 4, 2011
The title of this
article is a quote from Disney’s The Lion
King. Allow me to provide its
context: Simba, a lion, the heir of
the throne, fled to an oasis thinking he was responsible for his father’s death.
There he settled into a laid back life style, eating grubs and worms with
his friends. After several years, a
lady lion found Simba and told him of the trouble back home.
She begged Simba to return, but he declined.
He said he had no desire to be king and that he enjoyed his life without
responsibility. Then, an old monkey
found Simba and challenged him with the following:
1) Remember who you are, and 2) You are more than what you’ve become.
I challenge the
reader with the same. Have you
settled into a laid back life style?
Have you become complacent?
If so, “Remember that you are.”
Scripture says you are a:
-
Joint heir with Christ (Rom 8:17)
4. Child of light (1Th 5:5)
-
Royal priest (1Pe 2:9)
5.
Purchase possession (Eph 1:14)
-
New creature (2Co 5:17) 6.
Sinner saved by grace (1Ti 1:15-16)
Do you enjoy a life
without responsibility? Have you lost your desire to serve?
This ought not be a newsflash, but the responsibility is yours whether
you agree to accept it or not. You
are more than what you’ve become.
Let me put it another way, How many
actually think they have exceeded what God has called us to be?
Hmmm, I suspect each of us are more than what we’ve become.
