I’ll be Satisfied

April 29, 2011

I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content (Php 4:11).  Contentment is more than controlled coveting; contentment includes satisfaction.

Consider the following proverbs along with my interpretation of them:

bullet He that tilleth his land shall be satisfied with bread (Pr 12:11).   Be satisfied with your wages (Luke 3:14).
bullet The righteous eateth to the satisfying of his soul (Pr 13:25).  Be satisfied with your daily needs being met (Matt 6:11).
bullet A man shall be satisfied with good by the fruit of his mouth (Pr 12:14).  Contentment is essential to internal peace (1Ti 6:6).

Easy to write, harder to live.  Easy to teach, harder to model.

Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have:  for He hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee (Heb 13:5).  Do you believe that God is in control?  Most Christians emphatically answer, “Yes!”  Amen?   But let me ask the same question in a slightly different manner, “Are you satisfied with God in control?”  the answer to this question is manifest in how impatient, envious or discontent you are.  Isn’t the lack of contentment and satisfaction at the heart of these emotions?

Lord, help me to be more content with my wages and that my daily needs are being met.  Help me to be more satisfied and thankful.
