To Judge or Not to Judge

February 10, 2011

Have you ever been called narrow minded for refusing to endorse certain behaviors?  If yes, then you’ve been judged for judging.  Have you ever been called stuck up for refusing to associate with folks who live in a certain manner?  If yes, then you’ve been judged for judging.  Do you see the hypocrisy?  Judgment has become politically incorrect for all but the politically correct.

Consider apathy and/or acceptance from a biblical perspective:

bullet Rom 1:29-32  -    take no pleasure in them.   How do saints deny a lifestyle without judgment?  They can’t.  Saints either obey God or their culture.
bullet 1Co 5:11-13  -  put away that wicked person.  How does a church put away a member without judgment?  She can’t.  A church either obeys God or its culture.
bullet Eph 5:3-5  -  … let it not be once named among you.  How do saints flee certain behaviors without judgment?  We can’t, either we obey God or the culture.
bullet Col 3:7-10  -    put off all these.  How do saints put off sin without discernment?  We can’t, either we put on the things of God or the things of our culture.
bullet 1Ti 3:1-5  -  … from such turn away.  How do saints turn away from sin without judgment?  We can’t, either we turn away from God or our culture.

God told us to put away, put off, turn away, flee, refuse, deny, and take no pleasure in sin or in folks who continue in sin.  We cannot serve two masters (Matt 6:24). We cannot wear two yokes (Matt 11:29-30).  I’m going with His yoke, how about you?
